In the Spring of 2008 my wife and I went on a three week trip though Ireland and the United Kingdom. Over those 21 days, I shot more than 1400 images, my favorites of which can be seen in this book. This was my first trip to Europe and I was amazed by the oldness of everything around me as it seemed that every building had at least one connection to an important historical event or person.

Growing up in the US, it was a revelation to me to see towns and cities full of old buildings, each of them older than my entire country. I have a new prospective on many historical events now that I have seen in person where they took place.

I hope you enjoy the pictures in this book, as I definitely enjoyed making them. If you find yourself wishing that you too could travel, go. Don't think of reasons not to, as those reasons will never disappear.
