Antarctica! That word evokes strong feelings in each of us; adventure, danger, expeditions fraught with insurmountable difficulty, frigid cold, penguins and icebergs. In February 2010, Laura Vae Gatz visited Antarctica with a group of intrepid fellow travelers, with Lindblad Expeditions, on the ship National Geographic Explorer. Together they enjoyed the company of penguins, multiple whale species and sea lions, kayaked the Antarctic, and watched the spectacular, unforgettable scenery during the long hours of the summer sun.
