Elizabeth Metzger had just turned 16 when she created and produced this photo book.

What you find here are powerful visual stories that attack people’s notions and definitions of a ‘normal world order’ in a subtle way, via the clichés and platitudes we often use to justify ourselves.

‘Off With Your Mask’ explores various perceptions of human emotions vis-à-vis animals, as metaphors for human perception and behavior that often seems to be driven by ‘intelligent absurdity’. In this photo book, Elizabeth shares her own interpretations of how humans perceive themselves and others, turning the meanings of customary sayings and idioms on their head in order to unearth new angles of perception.

Organized into three sections – Surviving, Existing and Living – ‘Off with your Mask’ is a stirring, provocative and inspiring work of art that challenges the viewer to re-visit their own perceptions of life.
