Acerca del libro
AN INSTANT OF FORM
What? A series of photographs.
Who? A performer investigating form coming from the inner anatomical landscape of the body.
With whom? A photographer accompanying the performer in improvisations outdoors.
Why? To understand form and the link between inner and outer realms of the living body and the space we inhabit.
What for? To feel what has not been felt yet! To share unrepeatable dancing fragments. To sense and capture form.
What happens if a performer does not only perform and a dancer not only dance? Being a dance artist creates a ‘spacious’ application of the art of dance. If the priority is movement in all its manifestations, locations and representations, then the medium is not the priority but only a tool to explore and materialise ideas. I never found comfort in a single activity, definition, or practice.
The trigger for motion comes from what is felt in the present moment. My imagination and composition skills sparkle in the collaboration with various witnesses: choreographers, audience members, video-makers and – in this case – a photographer.
Photography for me is about capturing visible manifestations of passing sensations, inspirational moments of realisation found in the surrounding space we share with other living creatures. Presenting a series of photographs is to continue (or begin) a research on form. I improvised in different locations accompanied by a photographer who became both the witness and the stimulus for capturing transforming-forms.
