M J McRae is a retired CPA, who lives in Toronto with his wife, Vicki and their six children, all of whom have amusing stories included in his new book, “Behind My Eyes: A Collection of Puns and Humorous Stories.” I’ve always been enamoured by the word play embedded in a pun. I don’t think a conversation goes by where I’ve haven’t looked for the double meaning of a word where I can create a pun “in the moment”. A number of years ago I began writing down these “clever shifts of wit” with the intention of creating a “pun” book. At the end of February 2018, I retired from my finance director’s role which afforded me the time to enter into the pun book creative process. But then, a funny thing happened. As I started culling through my accumulated puns, I began reminiscing about humorous life stories of my family and friends that could be a perfect companion to the puns. So the book morphed into a family memoir intermixed with the puns I created, read or received from many of you.
