Acerca del libro
Diane Larsback is a proud First Nations artist, poet and storyteller, of Cree and Iroquois heritage. In Raven's Heart she weaves memoir and poetry to chronicle her powerful life-journey into healing and wholeness. Torn from her family before age three, she survived fifteen years in Child Welfare Services with twenty two placements in foster homes, group homes and detention centers. From age eighteen she endured twenty years surviving on the streets, fighting drug and alcohol addiction, prostitution, racism, rejection, and poverty, while searching for identity, family, and her Creator. This painful road winds from Calgary through Vancouver's Downtown East Side, to her reserve in Northern Alberta and finally into British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Her resourcefulness and determination continually bring her back from destruction and her faith raises a declaration of hope that there is opportunity for everyone to heal, recover and live again.
