Featuring all manner of species from the commonplace to the rare, from large to tiny, including some of the odd, strange, and weird, – and with exquisite photography of pristine examples, it is a book to savour.
Although all the included species were photographed in northern England, almost all of them might be found anywhere in the United Kingdom, and the majority might also be found in many other countries too.

Acerca del creador
Now retired from a life-long career as an electrical projects engineer, I've been able to spend much more time in pursuit of my hobbies. Photography has been a passion since my teens, and whether I'm out fell-walking, looking for fungi, or whatever, taking photos always adds an extra dimension to the activity. – If something catches my eye, I'll generally be found pointing my camera at it! My interest in fungi developed as a result of pure chance. The finding of an unknown purple mushroom led me on a quest for identification, and the purchase of my first "mushrooms and toadstools" field guide. One thing led to another, and before I knew what had happened, I found myself with all the paraphernalia required for microscopy, and a veritable library of mycology text books to go with it! – That first purple mushroom, which, for the record, turned out to be Amethyst Deceiver - ( Laccaria amethystina ), has a lot to answer for!
