“Using digitally shot images through a self-created pinhole cap, Melissa explores this lens-less process to capture both shadow and tone. Melissa attempts to create a visceral experience, as the subject matter is not the concern. Instead, blurring, distortion, and speckling debris react with light. The subject is merely a vessel for parturition. Her images evoke from the present, a random passing moment that can only continue to exists in our subconscious. Accompanying this photo series are two poems. They are written in the Japanese style of Tanka Poetry. Similar to the visuals, the verses speak of time remembered and seasonal change. ”
