To-date, only a few full-sized original Greek statues still exist, giving us glimpses of the emotion and sensuality communicated by the sculptors of the Antiquity. From the early beginning of the photographic art, photographers have been inspired by the idealized beauty of the Ancient Greek sculptures. Amongst the greatest, inspiring modern artist Robert Mapplethorpe has contributed to the production of bodyscape images inspired by the classical Greek art.
