Newell Grenfell enjoyed success in various spheres of life across three continents.
Growing up in post-war England, with a passion for cricket, he became captain of cricket at Kingsmead School in Cheshire, Wrekin College in Shropshire, and Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
After training in market research in London he moved to Asia and founded what became the Survey Research Group (SRG), the largest employee-owned market research company in the world.
After 14 years in Malaysia he moved to New Zealand, developed tourism interests in the Marlborough Sounds and Akaroa, and became one of New Zealand’s most successful amateur photographers as a Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) and chair of the PSNZ Honours Board.
A committed Christian, happily married to Jacqui for 50 years, with two outstanding daughters, fine sons in law and four grandchildren, every sphere of his life has been truly blessed.
