Acerca del libro
Roland L. Noël has spent much of his life contemplating the livelihoods and fortunes of these ancestors, first, growing up in Freshwater, Conception Bay, and later as custodian of his family tree. He blends first hand knowledge, with the color and texture of daydreams , to paint a tapestry of the people of this island. Some call Newfoundland, "The Rock" : Roland knows it as A Place Called Home.
Acerca del creador
Roland Noël was born in Freshwater, Conception Bay, Newfoundland on January 31, 1941. His formative years – during World War II and pre-confederation with Canada – were a time of momentous change: the merging of past and present, modern and vintage. It was from this place, Roland began to write poems to appreciate and understand the rugged, creative, and spirited people of Newfoundland. At age 22, he left Freshwater and moved to the United States, serving with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he had a successful career in Information Technology. Today, he resides in Tewksbury, Massachusetts with his wife, Eve. They make a yearly pilgrimage to their ancestral home each summer.
