Acerca del libro
Christmas 1942 on a farm in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, in Pope County Illinois, Lena Webb Williams gave her granddaughter, Lorece, a doll. The doll was named Little Miss Dolly and was well loved by Lorece and her three sisters, Lenora, Lorene and Reta.
50 years and a few grandchildren later, Lena's daughter, Fern Smith, decided to have Little Miss Dolly restored to her former beauty and regift the doll to her daughter, Lorece, for Christmas.
The restoration of the doll did not go as planned. What follows is a short story written by Fern about Little Miss Dolly’s experience.
Illustrations are by Lorece's daughter, Jeanine Jacildone, granddaughter of Fern and great-granddaughter of Lena. The photographs were taken by many family members over the years and Fern's story is shown as written. It was written in her own hand.
Fern loved to tell jokes, write short stories and create beauty out of the commonplace.
This book is published as a tribute to a strong woman, a resourceful mother and grandmother who taught us all so many valuable life lessons.
