Frederick Douglas Brake - born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania; that is where I grew up in a neighborhood in the Northeast section of the city called Frankford. I attended public school which was within walking distance of my house. My family had moved from North Carolina years before I was born. It always amazed me hearing about the childhood of older adults, how much easier life was for my generation. It sounded like they walked 10 miles up hill in a blizzard to get to school and back home every day. Now that I am a more "seasoned adult" I find myself laughing at how memories work. Good times were incredible and bad times were so much worst [truth is somewhere in the middle].
