Acerca del libro
R. T. Hibbitt continues to explore his poetic voice in this collection of poems written mostly between 2014 and 2016. They express a very real and vulnerable side of the poet's psyche often displaying anger, disappointment, grief, love, bewilderment and a playful sense of humour. But it is the overwhelming sense of frustration that permeates throughout, which can take the reader by surprise. The author is sandwiched between the desire to follow Jesus Christ and the surrounding culture with which he lives. These two realities war upon his mind and in doing so affect his soul. It's in this place of vulnerability that poetry is forged, weakness is explored and R.T. Hibbitt's fallibility is exposed. But like many of the Psalms that King David wrote, found in the Bible, the poems also show a total dependency on his infallible God. Fallible And Other Poems may offend some people but as the poet writes 'but at least they'll feel something, right?' (The Back Drop). And isn't
that what poetry is meant to do?
that what poetry is meant to do?
