Acerca del libro
The Ecology of Photography is a philosophical look at the why of photography and art making, rather than the how, from the perspective of photographer, educator, and wildlife biologist Mike Shipman. It's one understanding of the push and pull, the circularity, the influence and inspiration from our individual sensory and perceptual experiences, and the interconnectedness that makes up the photography experience.
The first half of the book are chapters exploring the origins of curiosity, of the various spaces we inhabit, move through, and interact with, of our senses and perceptions and how they influence our concept of the world, pulled together in the final chapter describing the ecology of photography. The second half is a gallery of photographs made in Scotland in 2015, primarily on the Isle of Skye.
This book is for the photographer and artist who is interested in exploring the possible origins of the type of artwork they do, the potential foundation of their vision and style, and their motivations for creating art.
The book preview shows the chapter header pages, a selection of image pages, and the description pages for the images.
