In the Bronx, there is an over-abundance of advertisements, usually targeted at the poor and are irrelevant to the community. To me, this also highlights a disconnect within the local culture, describing a community that is striving for new-ness. I observe that while the other outer boroughs have begun to flourish in recent years, the Bronx seems to have been left behind. All throughout the city, we see that when re-construction comes, and renovation arrives, money is soon to follow. People are willing to invest in theses areas, knowing that through rehabilitating a community, there is an opportunity for others who will want to follow. On the contrary, the Bronx has always had the reputation of being underdeveloped and not worth fixing. Due to this lack of attention that it has experienced, the borough as a whole is constantly the last to reap the benefits of change. This underlying detachment is something that I am attempting to convey through my images.
