A record of Colin Robertson Roy's photographic exhibition portraying the drivers and their teams participating in the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco and the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique. On the face of it this is a reportage about classic cars, but , in reality, it is the passion and the dedication of the participants, which gives the energy to these images. The limited edition hand made silver gelatin prints in this series have been produced in a manner designed to achieve maximum authenticity in the treatment of this historic subject: all the images are captured on the same classic photojournalist's film- Kodak Tri-X, which first recorded Graham Hill and Jim Clark, using cameras and lenses from the 1960s, the Nikon F, Rolleiflex and the Leica. The developer is Agfa's Rodinal, which uses a formula over a hundred years old to produce a grain unimaginable from a digital image. The photographic paper too is a relic from a long extinct Hungarian manufacturer. Forte Vac once made the world's finest museum grade paper. The stocks used for this exhibition have been rescued from the deep freezers of old master printers from around the world. There is unlikely to be much left anywhere. This is a truly limited edition.
