Gregg Brown was born in 1949 and raised on a farm near the small North-Central Illinois town of Walnut. After completing high school, he moved to Bloomington to attend Illinois Wesleyan University from 1967 to 1971. It was during this time that the majority of the works included in this collection were written. Also included is the performance piece, An Approach To Improvisational Music, written in the 90s. Three of the poems included in this collection, you came to me, finding our way, and reincarnation love song are featured on Gregg’s 2008 album Another Time, Another Being. His interests in social activism influenced the works give us this weed, written in 2010, and 25 dangers (or so), written after the Fukushima disaster in 2011.
