This is a photo book of Hoffnungsfelder (Fields of Hope) Mennonite church in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. My parents were a part of this church and I have fond childhood memories of attending worship services, vacation Bible school and participating in Christmas concerts. I had planned a trip to my home town area specifically for photography. I knew the Mennonite church would be an important site for my photographic interest. I arrived at 7:00 AM knowing that the building is no longer used for church services. I was amazed to find the door unlocked and everything appearing as though the church had been used the previous Sunday. The building is meticulously maintained inside and out. Even the cemetery was manicured, complete with painted fences and flowers at many of the grave sites. This was very meaningful to me because my sister, Lynda-June (who died in infancy) is buried in this cemetery. I was so impressed with the site that I spent 2 hours taking photos that morning and came back a few days later for evening and sunset pictures. As I was editing the pictures I decided to create this photo book dedicated to the memory of my sister, Lynda-June Fehr. It is my hope and prayer that this photo book will be a blessing to my family as well as the congregation (now congregating at a different location) who are so dedicated to maintaining this important spiritual and heritage site.
