This book has drawn on inspiration of natural environments. Another inspiration has come from wanting to make toys look like they are actually interacting with the space. Original pictures involved actually putting the characters in the space and taking a picture. The pictures for this book were created with photoshop, which opened up completely new opportunities.
The process involved taking two pictures and combining them. The picture of the toy was taken separately from the background. later the two were combined and edited to make them look like the toy was actually there. This also allowed for size manipulation which enhanced the
realism of the pictures.
The works in this book are a great blending of fantasy and reality. Something that the artist
really enjoys doing. The pictures also create another world that the viewer steps into as they view the images. It is a world however not to
removed from our own, so that we can easily
connect to it. This is what artist, Samantha Moffett, tries to bring to her work and she has achieved it well here.
