“1x1” started out as a conversation Jane and I had over a year ago, while walking on the streets of New York City. We thought of creating a book that consists of fashion, art, and music was one thing. However, the difference with the “1x1”, is that it’s very personal, “heartfelt ”, and became a passion project.
You’ve already seen many publications with the same brands, trends, and similar faces being featured. Imag- ine yourself all claustrophobic in that world, nowhere to go because everyone is just reproducing the same content. For me, I believe it’s always good to step back from that atmosphere. I personally enjoy searching for diversity and discovering new people that may not necessarily be on your newsfeed. ere’s many talented creatives that I’ve supported over the years and I wanted to share them with you. I was tired and exhausted at looking at all the same concepts or careless work that people would share to society. I wanted us to create a space for creatives that were,“upcoming” and “rising”.
I think what I admire the most with this whole journey for “1x1” was the progression and the experiences. Whether it was when I first ew to Toronto last year to collaborate with my pen-pal to designing the whole layout with Jane.
