The content of this publication brings together a Garda Síochána (Irish Police Service) children’s colouring book, and a series of digital paintings created using elements from N.S.A. slides leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013 (made publicly available by http://www.spiegel.de/). This book also features details of computer generated works (2015) inspired by the spying software logos featured in the leaked slideshows.

The title ‘ist für uns alle neuland’, is a reference to a speech by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on June 19, 2013. Merkel’s speech, at a press conference with U.S. President Barack Obama, went viral after proclaiming “Das Internet ist für uns alle neuland” (The internet is virgin territory for all of us). Many internet denizens took her statement as evidence that she was ‘out of touch’, by claiming the internet was “new territory” in 2013. The meme was shared using the hashtag #neuland.
