In my professional career in TV, I've spent many years editing and directing documentaries for numerous international broadcasters, such as the BBC, ARTE and PBS. I've travelled extensively and enjoyed the challenge of making films and telling stories. But photography has always been close to my heart. I'm seduced by it's ability to tell a story in a single shot - capturing a moment, a feeling, a place or personality. And I love the freedom of being able to work alone - just me and my camera. No budgets or schedules to deal with. When I'm out in the city, I often make portraits of the interesting characters I come across and I enjoy making a connection with them - but I also love to capture the chaos, weirdness and poetry of the urban landscape, and I try to take pictures which appeal more to the heart than the head.
