For seven years in New York City the only thing that has kept me sane has been Muay Thai (or Thai-boxing).

One day I've decided that I had enough of the NY underground music and film scene, of my acting and film making career, of my zillion of free-lance jobs, of directing low budget artsy music videos for independent record labels or info-mercials for big ad agencies that will never see the green light, of my east Village apartment, of being a singer in a rock band called 'In Flagranti' and the lead actress in low budget indie European and American movies, of being a coat check girl in a room the size of a closet, of catering work where you have to wear a tuxedo and smile all the time, of credit card bills, of high heels shoes and winter coats... So I've decided to move to Thailand and become a full-time professional Muay Thai fighter for about a year. Things have been going quite well and I've decided to stay for another year. 
I am working on a Muay Thai book and editorial project to support my staying in Thailand and in the future open a Muay Thai gym and cultural center for children. Please have a look at my work in progress.

Rajadamnern Champions: Boys from Chuwattana. 
In the heart of a poor neighborhood in Bangkok some of the best Muay Thai champions train. The boys from Chuwattana gym or Kay Muay Chuwattana. 
Most of them are Rajadamnern champions, WBC or WMC champions. The ring is blessed by the monks and women are not allowed in it. A few old bags, a courtyard, a ring, a kitchen, two rooms upstairs where in each one ten people sleep together. Jomthorng Chuwattana, Lamsonkhram Chuwattana or Singmanee Sor Srisompong make a hundred thousand or fifty thousand baht a fight. The gym takes half of it. The rest they send to their family in Issan province, The North East Thailand poorest region where most of Muay Thai fighters come from.
