Acerca del creador
Born in New York City, I studied at Brandeis University and received a Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship to pursue printmaking in Paris. After returning to the United States, I transitioned from printmaking to painting, earning an MFA in Painting from Queens College. In 1996, I relocated with my family to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where photography became my primary medium. Over the years, I explored a wide range of cameras and processes. Following a serious injury in 2011, I began working exclusively with my iPhone, discovering new possibilities within its limitations. My recent work explores multiple exposure imagery, printed initially on metal and then on metallic paper, merging photography with digital drawing. This hybrid process reconnects me to my roots as a draftsperson while allowing me to paint directly onto my images. Through this layered approach, I return again and again to the foundational impulses of drawing and painting that continue to shape my practice.
