Chinese New Year is an important

traditional Chinese holiday based on the lunar calendar. The lunar calendar associates each year with a zodiac animal. 2014 is the Year of the Horse. Celebrations typically last two weeks and include visiting relatives,

watching the lion dance festival, and giving of red envelopes. Food plays a major role in the festivities and has many symbolic meanings such as: fertility, good luck, prosperity, and health. This book is a compilation of photos from this year’s Chinese New Year. It is meant to document the fun-filled and unique festivities in New York City’s Chinatown.
