This book will appeal to those who fell walk or sight see in the North York Moors and are interested in fossils, Whitby Jet and beachcombing flotsam and jetsam. The Deep Grove Wyke Golden Fossil and Jet Mine walk is split essentially into two walks, due the nature of the tide. One walk, the golden fossil walk is suitable for families and as its name suggests is a walk where many golden fossils can be found, which is from Sandend to Deep Grove Wyke and back. The second, the jet mine walk is an extension to the first walk, will be of more interest to the Whitby Jet hunters, although, fossils can be also found. It is more arduous and not really suitable for those with families since the jet mine walk extension to the Deep Grove Wyke Victorian Whitby jet mines, has a very narrow roped valley path and laddered cliff descent. The path when wet, is slippery and requires extreme care in its descent and ascent. The aim of this walking guide is to provide circular beach walk combining the passions of fossil hunting and beachcombing for Whitby Jet, with the sight seeing of the numerous historical sites of interest that lie on our beaches.
