their surroundings, the overgrown Nissan huts occupied by ‘the few’, the Air
Raid Shelters where civilians took refuge from the nightly bombings, the
threat of invasion, D-Day the largest invasion force ever assembled, displaced
peoples, Prisoners of War camps surrounded by barbed wire and guards, the
Cathedrals and Castles that have stood for hundreds of years and yet these are
within living memory....
