This story is a biographical narrative about memories of long ago when the author was on a secret military assignment in the small gulf coast city of Beaumont Texas during the Korean War (better known as "The Forgotten War"). As the writer recalls that summer of 1951, he also comments on some of his prior lifetime experiences. While on this assignment he meets the girl he will later marry. This narrative will entertain older readers and perhaps cause them to reflect on their own past. It will give younger readers an insight into what times were like in the 1950's
