This collection brought together some of the hundreds of watercolour paintings by Architect Ronald Wu. These illustrations were created during his career with the Queensland Department of Public Works. The wide spectrum of government architectural design that evolved during this period was captured in sensitive and detailed artist impressions. The works of over 32 architects and landscape architects and their project teams were featured in this book. Many of the designs portrayed were subsequently built. Illustrations also depicted earlier variants and design options. Some concepts that remained imaginary, served to excite client or public interest at the time.

Ronald Wu was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia, and migrated to Australia as a child. While studying Architecture at the Queensland University of Technology, he was offered a cadetship with the Queensland Department of Public Works in Brisbane. During his government career from 1987 to 2012, he was responsible for diverse projects from master plans to memorials, and engaged in his passion for architectural and landscape design illustration. He was elevated to Principal Architect and also performed the role of Acting Managing Architect on substantial occasions for the Department's in-house design consultancy. Aside from his government work, Ronald undertook private commissions for artist impressions, was recognised as a heritage illustrator and has showcased his work in several successful exhibitions. From his home studio in Brisbane, he has always enjoyed drawing and painting an extensive variety of subjects.
