This book is the result of many walks on and around Roosevelt Island, Washington D.C., a beautiful natural haven nested on the Potomac River and surrounded by the bustling city life. The island and its history inspired me. I choose three subjects, three symbols: a majestic sycamore, a tunnel and a tidal marsh. Two poems, one in English, one in French, introduce each chapter.
