YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK. Nothing ever stays the same so you pick up your camera or put it away. 

 

My passion for small towns began in my early twenties. I traveled the ghost towns of Arizona with Allen Dutton, a renowned artist, photographer and instructor of fine art photography at Phoenix College. Dutton is the most inspirational artist in my life not only for his imagery but for his vision and how he taught me to see.

 

Returning to these ghost towns years later, I found buildings burned or removed...history gone forever. I mourn the loss, not only for the light but also the life the buildings represented that is now extinguished for others who shared more than a moment of history with the location.

 

As I compile this “collection of time” I recall the words of Robert Doisneau, “A hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there—even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity.”
