"Open House" is the first book published by photographer, Michael Meeks. In the fifty images presented in this handsome monograph, the author presents an imaginary world that once was. Shot during the last year of operation of The Adventurers Club, Meeks balances on a wire between the joviality of the club itself and the somberness of a club about to close.

The relationship between the photographer and his subject appear to vary widely throughout the book due largely to the different actors that play these characters each night. At times, the club itself along with the artifacts that fill it, are as much the subject as the actors.

Aside from the obvious pleasures that are depicted throughout these pages, the emotional attachment of the author is evident in each frame. One only wonders if 1937 was really this grand!
