In 1958 as an 18 year old in the Philippines I asked myself, "Should I quit school and follow in the footsteps of most of the young men in Cavite City and join the United States Navy?" This would mean leaving my parents and my six siblings behind while creating a new life in a foreign country. I would soon find out if living the American Dream was all that I had imagined. This is my journey into a brave new world.
