I attempt to examine the historic and contemporary relationship of the patrons of the Buddhist monuments at Sanchi and Ajanta. It includes on site photographs, sketches, and stories as I tried to understand their role as heritage parks. It includes a narrative and analysis of patronage, cultural tourism, and public space.
