Tony Lane was born in Kati Kati, New Zealand, in 1949. He graduated with a Diploma of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland University, in 1970. He moved to Wellington in 1974 and was based there for nearly 28 years.



His paintings are held in many public and private collections throughout Europe, the United States and Australasia. In 2002 he moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he currently resides for the most part of the year. The rest of the year he spends at his home in Campanet, Mallorca.
