PhotoScape 2004-2008 is the 'prequel' to a series of annual reviews of my photography, compiled retrospectively, in the wake of PhotoScape 2009, PhotoScape 2010 and PhotoScape 2011.
These books are designed to serve both as a personal record of the places I've been and the photographs I've chosen to make - and also as an assessment of the progress I hope I've made as a photographer over time.
In this book, the photos have again been made almost exclusively in Scotland, the land I belong to and which seems to exert a growing fascination for me the older I get. As usual, too, they are mainly landscapes, from the Borders where I've chosen to live, to the Highlands and Islands I visit as often as I can get there.
