Cheryl Phillips is a multi-media artist who resides in Detroit, Michigan. She studied in a four year college preparatory art program at Mercy High School. Phillips furthered her studies at the University of Detroit Mercy where she was awarded a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree. At Eastern Michigan University Phillips earned a Masters Degree in Art Education and in the 90’s she went back to school and earned a Masters in Art Therapy. Whether teaching, practicing as an art therapist or working in her studio, art has always been the focus of her adult life. Phillips has exhibited widely in solo, small group, juried and invitationals throughout Michigan. As a multi-media artist she has explored many genres of art including drawing, painting, collage and mixed-media. Her theme is often nature based whether she is making a reference to it or using the actual natural objects in nature collages.
