I am the father of an autistic son who attends middle school and is a wonderful boy who has an innocence and a compassionate way. He is like other kids but has some struggles that relate to social interaction and behavior. Most kids on the autistic spectrum do. We are trying to provide a support system that helps to nurture our son and help provide him confidence and allows him to feel good about himself. It is not easy but we take one day at a time and we try to learn and understand and most of all communicate. Through writing I have also found a way to express what I feel as I try to help my son and learn from his experiences. Autism is becoming more prevalent and we are trying to understand and help our son to tap into his potential and to learn to accept his situation and grow in the process. I have realized that we both need each other and we will always strive to do our best for our son. He is our shining beacon and this is my tribute to him. A Father's Love My Son and Autism is my project dedicated to help my son to live his dreams and to find his way. It is written from the heart and it is my special gift for him and my wife as we navigate together this path with our son.
