Acerca del libro
Capture the World is a compilation of photos that I captured between 2000 and 2010.
When I shoot, I am very conscious of the boundary confines from this two-dimensional medium. I enjoy exploiting the advantage of the unknown. You will frequently observe that the boarders of my photos dance with information, clueing in on what exists in the beyond. Often, the boarders are more interesting than the subject itself.
The techniques that I use to capture these images are quite fundamental. My intent is to avoid any magnification so that the final product is captured reality. Every photo is a snapshot from my specific perspective. This allows you to experience the precise captured moment rather than a manipulated or warped view.
Since I very rarely use a zoom feature on my lens and there are very minimal crop edits in this book, I decided to publish the true aspect ratio of the images. What you are viewing is the raw image with original proportions. Deliberately negotiating the proportion of an image can reasonably tell a whole new story. My intent is to tell the story from the original lens view rather than through Photoshop edits. The result allows you to see the positive and negative space just as I did.
I intentionally added dates and locations to each photo to clearly illustrate the development of my travels and my technique. Moreover, you will notice that each page spread was mindfully crafted within a particular order to provide rhythm while maintaining a consistent design. When you thumb through the book for the first time, I suggest that you flip through page by page. You might notice that the pages start to harmonize together.
Take a peek. It just might capture you
