Bedroom 2010 catalogues an act of catharsis I carried out in October 2010. The bedroom wall is a microcosmic gallery space that shows a kind of unconscious, highly personal and organic form of curation, where the form of the exhibition itself is developed alongside the curators growth as a person.



Symbolically, the purging of the 'bedroom curation' is a ritualistic act, often associated with rites of passage. Through adolescence and angsty teenage years, the 'bedroom curation' is built up to a point and then completely destroyed, often representing a new stage of maturity and development. By setting a date and turning this act into a performative installation and catalogue, I have forced a change upon myself.



Bedroom 2010 was installed as an exact reproduction within Camberwell College of Arts in October 2010. It was presented as an installation and a valid act of curation, a piece of work emblematic of my own personality, interests and experience. The content of Bedroom 2010 will now be stored and unopened for another 18 years, when I hope to re-present it. Until then, this systematic catalogue of everything on display will serve as a glimpse of the final product.
