The planned seaside community of The Sea Ranch was the subject of an intensive five-day workshop focused on developing the analytical drawing skills used by landscape architects for quick and effective field study. Upon visiting sites with diverse topography, site conditions, and architecture, we were instructed to apply a variety of drawing techniques and styles to graphically capture our impressions. Through individual reviews and open group discussions, students shared ideas, insights, and methodologies in order to find their own personalized style of documentation — one focused less on the art and more on the information communicated.
