When we listen, the earth has a way of speaking to us. Sometimes it is loud and obvious, like a crash of thunder, and sometimes it is subtle, like a whisper on the wind. Sometimes a sunset presents itself to us, and sometimes we wander at length in the desert searching for a subtle sign. The natural world cradles the wisdom of our ancestors and of the stars. The rocks and the soil hold intelligence far beyond our human knowledge, and the forests tell tales of long ago. The streams and rivers carry their messages to the oceans, which provide us with cleansing and perspective. Gaia is a living, breathing entity that longs for our communion and seeks to provide us with relationship, wisdom, and healing. What we must do is learn how to listen.

This collection of photographs and stories illustrates how the earth has spoken to me over the past ten years, what I have heard, and what I have learned. I am discovering how the earth and its creatures have much to teach me, and I am learning to be a part of things rather than just search for photographs. I am embracing how the outer landscape communicates with my emotional geography. I am learning to let go and let creativity flow. I am healing one moment and one photograph at a time.
