Acerca del creador
This is the photographic journey of fine art photographer Robert Glenn McCall, Jr. — six years as a caregiver for his mother, Lois LaRayne McCall, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of eighty-two. For six years I watched a perfectly healthy woman un-become. I watched language loosen, then let go. I watched time fold in on itself. And I kept photographing, because a photograph is a way of remembering for someone who can no longer remember. Long before I was her caregiver, I was a soldier with a camera. Drafted into the United States Army, I was assigned to Fort MacArthur in San Pedro as a Photographic Laboratory Technician, MOS 84G20, and later Still Photographic Specialist, MOS 84B20. The darkroom taught me patience. Stanley Kubrick taught me how to see. I first saw Paths of Glory at fifteen and never recovered from its tracking shots. At eighteen, Dr. Strangelove showed me the power of one-point perspective that has guided every frame I have made since.
