This book is dedicated to my parents, Santiago Galaviz López and Felicitas Martínez Calderón, whom we love deeply. It is my honor to share my father’s story—whom we lovingly call Grandpa, Abuelo, Papa, Papá, or Don Chago—who has spent a lifetime collecting memories. I have been fortunate to sit beside him, listen to him, and learn from him. Living only a few miles apart here in Hartford, Michigan, has given us the gift of closeness: long talks, shared moments, and the chance to revisit the experiences that shaped him.

I have had the privilege of spending time in the states of Mexico, Tamaulipas, and San Luis Potosí. With an open mind about where I came from and where my roots are, I have gained clarity that we are all connected to the world, not to one country, one town, or one backyard. Now retired, I enjoy family research, video production, and writing. Although I have only a high school diploma, I have learned so much through my work in the public sector for the State of Michigan, my involvement in the community, and my work as a professional DJ. I love spending time with my family; I'm a simple man with big dreams. Without a life plan, accomplishments have found me along the way, and I'm grateful to God and my family.
