Acerca del libro
These photographs were made during the summer and early fall of 2025, in the neighborhood surrounding Midway Airport.
While the planes pass overhead at a steady pace, they hang large and low enough to be seen and heard from most of the surrounding blocks. Over days and years, those planes and that movement becomes part of the environment. Everything shown here is exactly how it feels, overwhelming and huge.
I worked in nearby streets and residential areas, where this presence is constant.
The planes approach from different sides of the runway, and that guided where I worked and how I positioned myself. This project was all about timing. I used 4 cameras for the project
The planes are not the subject in a direct way, but my aim is to show you how the space is experienced. The photos I took include the people who live there and how they move through their day to day lives and exist within that condition.
The planes blanket the sky.
