Acerca del libro
I love the game.
Not from the start, don´t get me wrong – playing it can be so frustrating at times.
But hitting a nice, crushing forehand can be one of the best feelings there is.
The elegance of Rogers backhand, the thundering power of Rafa
or the perfection in the game of Nole.
And there`s the aesthetics – the geometrical strictness and proportions,
the color palette: earthy ochre tones on a clay court,
full, lush greens on the center court in Wimbledon at the start of the championships
or some blue, vibrant hardcourts with newly drawn white lines.
I love it all and want to praise and celebrate it through my pictures.
But I wanna give it a twist-
How are the courts looking in off season?
When the crowd has left and all is quiet,
when cold moves in and the colors fade.
The court is becoming a place of silence and gradual weathering.
I enjoyed the contrast of geometric rigidity and atmospheric melancholy.
Somehow i could still feel the players presence, waiting for the next serve to return.
And i thought:
Now there´s time to recognize the beauty of the game without the game.
