Acerca del libro
I created this book as my Capstone Graphic Design Project. I designed a book about oaxaca. I would choose to be born Oaxacan in every lifetime. Both of my parents were born in Tlacolula de Matamaros, Oaxaca. In 2001, they made the decision to imigrate to the U.S. with their 7 year old daughter. They may have left their home but never left their roots. I was born in the U.S but I was always taught our traditions. My mom ensured to teach me about the culture from a young age. I was taught about our indigenous ancestor. She always cooked traditional meals like mole and tlayuda’s. I was dressed in traditional clothing during oaxacan events held in LA. I have always loved my culture but I had never visited Oaxaca. This January I visited Oaxaca for the first time. It was a beautiful experience and I feel like this trip connected me even more to my roots and my ancestors history. I vistited historic ruins, mercados, artesania work shops, and I learned how tejate is made. I decided to create this book to share the uniqueness and beauty of Oaxaca with others so that may see just how much history there is to the state.
