Acerca del libro
The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily. They are named after Aeolus, the ancient Greek god of the winds. The islands are known for their stunning natural beauty, rugged coastlines, and volcanic activity.
The Seven Main Aeolian Islands:
1. Lipari: The largest and most populated island, known for its charming town, historical sites, and white pumice beaches.
2. Alicudi: The least developed island, with no cars and a peaceful, timeless atmosphere.
3. Filicudi: A quieter, more remote island, ideal for nature lovers and hikers.
4. Vulcano: Famous for its active volcano, fumaroles, and mud baths with therapeutic properties.
5. Panarea: The most exclusive and luxurious island, popular among celebrities and known for its nightlife.
6. Stromboli: Home to one of the world's most active volcanoes, Stromboli, which erupts regularly and offers spectacular lava flows.
7. Salina: The greenest island, known for its wineries, capers, and scenic landscapes.
I loved swimming and snorkelling in the Tyrrhenian Sea. More information about each island is given further on in this book. The intention was to make an album called "Sicily and the Aeolian Islands". But it soon became apparent that the book would be too thick and I decided to make a separate album for Sicily.
