Most human beings, young and old, are not aware of the superpowers Deaf human beings possess. The author uses De'VIA (Deaf View/Image Art) to illustrate authentically from the Deaf worldview the essential superpowers of being Deaf in terms both the young and the old can understand by joining a group of critters journeying through a strawberry patch to find out how they see the mouse is 'just like us.'

The idea of a children's book with De'VIA themes started in 2017. The medium used for each page of illustrations was watercolor. The last illustration: “Deaf Gain III: Superpowers Revealed" was completed in 2022. The originals of each of the eight illustrations are copyrighted, owned, and continue to be in the possession of Deaf Artist Kim Anderson.

As time progressed, ideas of how to make this De'VIA themed book meaningful evolved to create a Congratulations Care Package for Parents of Deaf newborns, designed to counter the sadness and grief focused bags filled with myths about auditory "cures" and conversion-therapy propaganda that are often distributed in hospital in maternity wards - materials that can rob families of the joyful truths of welcoming a Deaf child. The goal is to CELEBRATE! CELEBRATE! CELEBRATE hitting the jackpot! Celebrate embarking on a marvelous journey of experiencing and benefiting from their child's Deaf Gain! The book has a "Love Note" for the parents congratulating them and explaining why!

ATTENTION: This listing is to provide a viewing of the progression of the book in its entirety. It is currently in it's third DRAFT and is a PROTOTYPE. It is prohibitively expensive. Plus, NO PROFIT is being generated from it whatsoever. Would not recommend anyone to purchase the prototype at this time, as ALL of the funds would only go directly to Blurb, not to any nonprofit. Once a nonprofit organization takes on this project for mass production through their preferred publishing company at an affordable rate, it will be announced publicly.
